Our Story

Starting in a house in 1996 Paul Fox renowned local masterer built up a serious mastering service specifically suited to dedicated mastering for local independent artists.  Paul also continued to fully produce records for local Melbourne bands working mainly with Bakehouse Studios along side the mastering up until around 2006 when mastering eventually became his sole concern.  

Paul then trained other mastering engineers who worked with him as demand for Indie Masters mastering services increased.

Up until 2016 mastering took place from our long-time studio venue in Bakehouse Lane Fitzroy North.  As internet-based mastering became dominant the mastering was moved to a more convenient location.  In this way we began to provide a much more personalised, focused and flexible service for our clients.  

Since the Covid era mastering has become 99% online.

In no way does online mastering change the mastering process.  Instead, it becomes more convenient and streamlined for everyone.  It also helps keep our mastering prices lower and more accessible for independent artists and labels!
